High Availability and Redundancy for IBM Direct Link

IBM’s Direct Link is not inherently redundant, but users can achieve redundancy by establishing multiple connections and ensuring physical diversity.

The illustration at the end of this page will also depict a redundant connection from start to finish and includes important facts.

Establishing redundant connections

After setting up your first connection, following the guidelines in Create an IBM Direct Link Connection When a user selects an availability zone, they connect to PacketFabric’s infrastructure, which corresponds to hardware on OCI’s end known as “availability regions”. By establishing connections to two different availability zones, you ensure that each connection is isolated from a failure in the other.
