Create Multiple Ports
The Bulk Provision Quote Tool allows you to create multiple services at once.
The tool reflects real-time information from the PacketFabric POPs. For example, if there are only 20 ports available at a certain location, and you attempt to order 21, an error message appears.
NOTE: You can use this tool to create multiple ports, multiple virtual circuits from those ports, and multiple point-to-point services.
However, you cannot use this page to create multiple virtual circuits from previously provisioned ports. The Virtual Circuits forms pull their information from the selections you make under Physical Ports.
Create Multiple Ports
-
Log in to the PacketFabric portal.
-
Select Network > Interfaces.
-
Click Create and then select Create Multiple Ports.
-
Under Quote Details, enter a descriptive name for the quote and select a billing account.
-
Create one or more physical ports, virtual circuits, or point-to-point connections. See below for more information.
-
When you are finished creating your quote, you have the following options:
-
Cancel
Cancel your order without saving.
-
Create SOF
Create a service order form. You can use this option if you need to submit the costs for approval first.
Your quote is saved and is available under Billing, but your selections are locked and you cannot make any changes.
Once created, you have two new options:
- Download SOF - Download a PDF copy.
- SOF Sign Off - Click this to indicate that the SOF has been approved. Once clicked, this option is disabled, but no other actions occur. It is merely informational.
Click Cancel to exit the tool. Your quote remains saved.
-
Place Order
Your services begin provisioning immediately.
-
Save Quote
Your quote is saved and is available under Billing. You can return to the quote and continue to make changes before provisioning.
-
TROUBLESHOOTING NOTE:
If the Place Order options are disabled, ensure that you do not have any empty fields or field groups.
For example, if you are not ordering any virtual circuits, you need to remove the default/empty Virtual Circuit field group.
IMPORTANT:
When you create the quote, you are seeing real-time data as to what services are available. If you save and return to the quote, there is no guarantee that what you selected will still be available.
Physical Ports
Complete the following fields:
Market
Select the market in which you are creating the ports.
Site
Select the site at which you are requesting the ports.
Speed
Select a speed for your ports.
Media
The media available depend on the location and speed you have selected. All PacketFabric connections use single-mode fiber.
For more information, see Optic Specifications.
Zone
Select an availability zone.
For redundancy, you should have your ports spread across different zones.
Quantity
Enter the number of ports you want. You are limited by how many are currently available at this site.
If you request more than we can provide, an error message appears when you place your order.
Term
Select a contract length for this port.
Port Description
Enter a descriptive name for your port.
To continue to add ports in different locations or with different properties, click Add Port:
Virtual Circuits
The fields that appear depend on the type of virtual circuit you are creating. For more information, see Create a Virtual Circuit.
NOTE: If you are creating virtual circuits, you must first add ports under Physical Ports. Any virtual circuits you create in this form use ports created under Physical Ports rather than pre-existing ports you might already have.
Therefore the options available for Source Port and Destination Port depend on the information you entered above under Physical Ports.
To add different types of virtual circuits, click Add Virtual Circuit:
PacketDirects
To create point-to-point services, click the add icon under PacketDirects:
You are provided two sets of the following fields. The first represents your source location; the second is your destination location.
Market
Select the market in which you are creating the port.
Site
Select the site at which you are requesting the port.
Speed
Select a speed for your port.
Media
The media available depend on the location and speed you have selected. All PacketFabric connections use single-mode fiber.
For more information, see Optic Specifications.
Zone
Select an availability zone.
For redundancy, you should have your ports spread across different zones.
Then complete the following fields for your point-to-point connection:
Term
Select a contract length for these ports.
Description
Enter a descriptive name for your connection.
Next Steps
Before you can access the PacketFabric network, you need to physically connect your equipment to ours.
For more information, see Cross Connects.
